History
History of Al-Nur Islamic Center
20 years ago a small group of ten to twelve Bangladeshi families used gathered at home and at Masjids around San Gabriel Valley to seek knowledge of Islam, even though most of them have come from Muslim families. From then on, the beginning of a new Islamic community emerged. These knowledge seeking Muslims came together once every month; these gatherings are known as a Halaqa or spiritual gathering. Dedicated scholars such as Brother Harmoush, Dr. Ahmad Sakr, Dr. Imad Bayoun and numerous Muslim Scholars have guided this small Muslim community to learn the true and pure meaning of Islam.
As this community grew, ideas of opening an official House of Allah (Masjid) came to mind. In the month of December during the year of 2000 the slightly larger group of Muslims, which is now Al- Nur’s community, decided on an official board of directors to build a House of Allah. This group of directors worked to an extended limit to implement the dream of opening the House of Allah. Finally in the year of 2004, Allah (swt) allowed this group of Muslims to open a Masjid in Upland, California. This Masjid is known as Al- Nur Islamic Center.
Where Al- Nur is Today
Al- Nur has evolved over the years. We have moved to Montclair at 4959 Palo Verde Street, suite 202 B. With the mercy of Allah and donation from our community we bought 1.54 acre property at 4797 w. Phillips Bl. Ontario, CA 91762.
Alhamdulliah, we have hired a full time Imam, Qari Abderrahim Belbayan, to lead daily prayer and teach Quran to our children and adults every day (except Sunday).
Please donate generously to build the new Masjid and sign up for volunteer work for the sake of Allah.
“If you lend Allâh a goodly loan (i.e. spend in Allâh’s Cause) He will double it for you, and will forgive you. And Allâh is Most Ready to appreciate and to reward, Most Forbearing, (64:17)
